How to Apply Vinyl Decals Without Bubbles and Wrinkles
Share
If you've never installed a vinyl decal before, it can be a little intimidating, but if you follow our tips it'll look like it was installed by a pro.
Prep the Application Site
First things first- you need to start with a clean surface to ensure maximum adhesion of your decal. Besides the obvious removal of any visible dirt, we recommend cleaning the surface with 91% rubbing alcohol to remove any unseen residues.
Prep the Decal
Apply a few pieces of masking tape to the top of your decal. Using a measuring tape, line up the decal exactly where you want it.
Apply
With your decal in place, carefully fold one end of the decal towards the center, peel and cut off half of the backing, and use a squeegee to gently apply the decal from the center outward in small vertical sections at a time as you hold the outer edge. Then repeat for the other side- fold the second side towards the center, peel off the remaining backing and carefully apply pressure with the squeegee from the center to the opposite outer edge. With the decal on, go back over the decal with the squeegee, applying firmer pressure this time to ensure good adhesion, then carefully peel off the app tape.
Now step back and enjoy that great-looking decal!
Pro-tip- Not all vinyl decals are created equally. Our decals are printed on high quality air-release vinyl, making them not only long lasting, but easier to install than decals from our competition.
